Thursday 20 November 2014 I left Brighton at 9:32 AM on the train to Dover with a change over at Ashford International then from Dover I got the P&O Ferry to cross the English Channel to Calais France; then rented the car (Ford Focus, nice ride) and drove from 3:30 PM until I reached Colmar France near the German border; it rained most of the time during the trip, which also was driving all night. As I was within 30 km of Colmar and went through the Tunnel Maurice-Lemaire, 6,950 meters long. When I exited the tunnel I continued straight along a road that went up the mountainous region called the Vosges (pronounced as Vousz) Mountains. The narrow mountain roads were all multi hairpin turns and the fog was thick all the way up and down. I went in the Vosges for 1.5 hours before I found my way out and ended 16 km away in a little town called Saint-Hippolte.

I got out of the car at one point to view the area, and all of a sudden I heard leaves rustling and from behind me on my left and right side a herd of perhaps 20 deer galloped by; scared the shyte out of me. You try it and see how you would react to such a sudden surprise. I must admit when I collected my thoughts I realised it was a rare delightful happening. So I got to the hotel around 2 AM and got to sleep by 3 AM. I was aout all day and evening in Colmar taking shots of this beautiful little French village and town; with many canals like Venice. Enjoy the photos. I am leaving for Lugano Switzerland tomorrow.
More to follow.
